Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Course Summary

This six-day course provides the knowledge and classroom practice for an attendee to support and facilitate basic process improvement projects for their organization. Participants will learn the principles and core tools of Lean Six Sigma and practice utilizing the tools and principles in team-based exercises.

Lean East believes in preparing Green Belts to lead  basic improvement projects and support advanced projects. We cover core concepts from the American Society of Quality Book of Knowledge (ASQ-BOK), but an important differentiator is that our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course also includes training on leadership and facilitation skills and has a reduced focus on advanced statistical methods for analysis of variation.

Lean East offers more project leadership and facilitation skills and less advanced statistics.

The course introduces Lean Six Sigma principles, problem-solving methods, and tools and methods for removing the waste from processes and reducing process variation. Topics include PDCA, DMAIC, A3 thinking, process metrics, voice of the customer, mistake-proofing, change management, basic statistics to understand and reduce variation, and leadership and facilitation topics. Class participants will also learn Lean tools of value stream process mapping, waste identification, root cause analysis, and 5S. Each topic will be introduced with fun exercises so students have an opportunity to immediately apply what they have learned under the guidance of the instructors.

There are no prerequisites for taking this course, but a college degree and minimum of two-years of work experience is highly recommended in order to benefit from the course. Focused classroom participation and passing a short exam on the final day of the course is required to receive a certificate as a Lean East Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
